What are some good activities or ideas of teaching method with picture book in kindergarten ?
I'm a student and have to do some activities with kindergarten children with a picture book. So I have to sing a song with the kids or play games or teach with some creative method for just 20 minutes. I'm not a teacher so I'm not thinking of buying any picture book but instead I will get some book in the library, and there are many books but I don't have any ideas of how to teach children who goes to kindergarten. So saying , buy 'that' book won't hetlp me. =[ But still here are 100s of books in the library. I found some information picture book about what creatures lives in the ocean. It has a big single picture of the ocean and the letter ocean and the picture is a photo. The other pictures are, fish, animal, rock, sand , shell, plants. That's it, no more letters and end. I searched for kids song about ocean but I found none that really kind of relates to this book. And have no idea what kind of game or creative method to teach. I can also do with some story books but story books are really not a good idea to teach in my opinion but that's just because I don't think there's a good method of teaching with story books. I don't know, maybe there is Aladin or Lion king but the song has nothing to do with learning letters. It does relate to the book but the lyrics are difficult for children to learn. The second book I found was about feeling. A boy touching marbles and saying this is bumpy and touching a toy saying this is hard. So I thought I could bring some marbles or something but it takes too much money. (Because marbles aren't the only thing it mentions) Another book was about the lion. There are words like "The lion has white whiskers." With the picture. So it's about how to describe the lion. I thought this third book another good one but still I can't even come up with a single idea. I'm totally desperate. =[ btw I'm a foreign student in Japan and that's why my English isn't good. And also NO ABC's because that's the rule.
