The second part of your question shows some confusion: Qumran was a place, not a people. At Qumran was located a complex of an ascetic order of Jewish dissidents called the Essenes. The Essenes were opposed to the house of Hashomean (the royal dynasty that led to the Herodian kings) and the High Priesthood, which they believed was usurped by the Hashomeans from a deceased spiritual leader known only as "The Teacher." The Essenes were active during the time of Jesus but play no part in Christian Eschatology.
